Creating a better digital landscape

We are on a journey to harmonise our technology stack to be able to adapt to changes and have an efficient way of developing software. We balance cost efficiency with speed using common technology platforms and DevOps in our own unique way. Similar to our flatpack furniture, we take a “component” approach to our technical architecture and development, reusing business and technology capabilities. We empower teams to enhance and build upon existing solutions. We embrace open source (check us out on Github ), and we are creating an inner source culture. We use JVM-based languages, such as Java and Kotlin, as well as Python (and many more). We design cloud native software and deploy using different public cloud providers globally and IKEA owned data centres. We work together, embracing cost-consciousness and simplicity, as we contribute to the IKEA vision of creating a better life for the many people.

Innovate and re-invent the shopping experience

Through technology, we bring the IKEA magic across our channels by using the things that are uniquely IKEA, such as our data, deep home furnishing knowledge, our range, our mix of different customer meeting points– to create a personalised and unique experience. The examples below show how we are offering a convenient and inspiring experience wherever, whenever and however our customers around the world want to meet us. The diversity in technology means your journey at IKEA can start with front-end development, artificial intelligence, infrastructure services or anywhere in between and lead to exciting new opportunities.
